Viagra and its usage for erectile dysfunction

Viagra, also known as sildenafil, is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It belongs to a class of medications called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. Viagra works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, which can cause an erection. It is most effective when taken on an empty stomach one hour before sex.

Prescription requirements for Viagra

Viagra is a prescription drug, which means it requires a prescription from a healthcare provider to be purchased. In most circumstances, it is illegal for individuals to import drugs or devices into the U.S. for personal use because these products purchased from other countries often have not been approved by the FDA for use and sale in the U.S.

Male enhancement pills available at CVS

CVS offers a wide selection of male enhancement pills online, which can be discreetly shipped to your home. However, these over-the-counter products are not the same as Viagra and should not be considered as a substitute for the prescription medication.

CVS's policy on Viagra coverage and insurance benefits

CVS no longer includes Pfizer's Viagra in its list of drug insurance benefits, as confirmed by CNBC in August 2015. This means that the popular erectile dysfunction medication is not covered by CVS insurance plans.

The 2016 standard formulary and the removal of 26 drugs

CVS Health Corp, the nation's second-biggest pharmacy benefit manager, announced in 2015 that it would exclude an additional 31 drugs, including Viagra, from its 2016 standard formulary. This decision affected the availability and coverage of these medications for CVS customers.

Alternatives to Viagra: Eli Lilly's Cialis and its availability at CVS

Eli Lilly's Cialis is another medication used to treat erectile dysfunction and is still covered by CVS insurance plans. It is one of the alternative options to Viagra, along with other medications like Levitra, Staxyn, and Stendra. These medications have different active ingredients but work similarly to Viagra.

Express Scripts and its 2016 National Preferred Formulary

Express Scripts, a competitor of CVS, was able to negotiate pricing on both Cialis and Viagra for its 2016 National Preferred Formulary. This allowed customers of Express Scripts to have access to these medications at a more affordable price.

"Viagra substitutes" and their differences from genuine Viagra

Many products are marketed as "Viagra substitutes" and are available without a prescription. However, these products are not the same as Viagra and can be risky to use. They can be found behind the counter at gas stations, convenience stores, sex shops, and even online.

Risks and potential drug interactions with non-prescription "Viagra substitutes"

Non-prescription "Viagra substitutes" can cause drug interactions if used with other prescription medications. Using these products without consulting a healthcare provider can pose serious health risks.

Importance of consulting with a healthcare provider for Viagra prescription

If you believe you need Viagra to treat your erectile dysfunction, it is essential to consult with a healthcare provider and obtain a prescription. This will ensure that you are using a safe and effective medication, and it will help you avoid potential risks associated with non-prescription substitutes.

To answer the question, "Can you buy Viagra over the counter at CVS?"

– No, you cannot.

Can you buy Viagra over the counter at CVS?Viagra is a prescription medication, and it requires a prescription from a healthcare provider to be purchased. While CVS does offer a variety of male enhancement pills, they are not the same as Viagra and should not be considered as a substitute.
